Castles in the Air
I walked back home on that long dusty road
Going past those mansions that housed the rich and famous, young and old
I always dreamt of a roof over my head
A luxury for a warrior of the daily bread
One fine day a gentleman came my way
What he told me made my day
"My friend",he said in a warm and friendly tone
"Why stare at those houses with a look so forlorn?"
"Come with me and one of those you shall own".
"A cruel joke it must be", I thought
"Why did he think of me when others left me to rot?"
"No Income no assets no problem" he said
"Take this loan and buy a house,TV and bed
"Of course its not free"
"But the interest's not a hefty fee"
So there I was in my home
In a day I built my Rome.
Finally living my fanciest dream
A day i thought would never be seen.
But little did I know as those beautiful days flew past
That the nights that followed would leave me aghast
Then the payment day came nearby
and my pockets were horribly dry
My wealthy friend saw this and went gray
He had sold my dreams to the wealthy to play
Cut my dreams into pieces and sold
"They traded and swapped it" later I was told.
Waited eagerly for my payments to roll out
And planned to profit even if I default
But alas there were millions who were like me
Blinded by greed they did not see
And then reality dawned the nightmare
Now it all seemed so cruel and unfair
Paupers to Riches to Paupers...
But this time my not-so-wealthy friend had no new offers
"I sold you lies but little did I care"
"Then I went broke and realized it was all....Castles in the air"
Going past those mansions that housed the rich and famous, young and old

A luxury for a warrior of the daily bread
